FNBB donates rugby equipment

First National Bank Botswana (FNBB) finance division has donated rugby sporting equipment to the University of Botswana (Rhinos) and Botho University (Riders) rugby teams to enhance performance.
Procurement coordinator at FNBB Kago Monggae told BOPA during the hand over ceremony that, through the Staff Volunteer Project (SVP) they are devoted to developing sports which in turn help both the beneficiaries as well as FNBB to grow.
He said before the donation, thorough assessment of facilities was carried out. Monngae said all the equipment donated are valued at P50 000 and they include among others tackle bags, tackle shields, rugby balls, an agility ladder and cones.
BOPA also caught up with Keorapetse Setlhare, a sport coordinator at Botho University who applauded the efforts of FNBB for assisting with equipment which he said will help build up the teams. He said that the proposal for sponsorship from FNBB seeking aid in sports development in tertiary institutions has now turned into reality.
He said they saw it fitting to approach FNBB for sponsorship because its clientele comprises mostly of tertiary students.
He stressed further that the willingness and talent of players to rugby as well as the facilities which the schools have contribute a lot to being awarded the equipment.
Student service manager at Botho University, Keefelakae Moloi expressed his gratitude by acknowledging FNBB for investing in the sport that has much potential, citing the national rugby team as one that has made a mark to be among the best sporting codes.
He said the equipment will enhance technical awareness that is needed more by the students and also make teams grow.
In conclusion he said that student sport needs a lot of resources. ENDS
