Compassion spirit lives on

Lady Khama Charitable Trust patron, President Lt Gen. Seretse Khama Ian Khama on Sunday August 9 led from the front in efforts to promote charity deeds . He participated in the Lady Khama Charitable Trust Family Fun Day held at Cricket Club.
President Khama was at the forefront taking the challenges head on, impressively leading his team Eat Sum More to the pinnacle in the 5- a -side soccer tournament.
The patron’s team was on fire as they went on to win the cycle race which seemed an uphill battle to climb for other teams who literally bit the dust numerously.
The event lived up to its standard bringing a variety of fun for both the children and adults electrified by some adrenaline rush. And he urban obstacle course gave them all that and more.
To solidify the spirit of charity Nayang Association pushed their Shoe Drive Campaign, opening doors for the good Samaritans to donate shoes for their SolesForSouls campaign.
A prize galore sealed the event with all the hardworking and deserving individuals and teams being rewarded for what they toiled for.
The trust chairperson, Mr Dale Te Haar said the event was a success and is growing bigger every year since its inception five years ago.
He stated that the purpose of the family fun day was to raise funds for the trust, which assisted vulnerable groups adding that their target was to exceed what they made in last year’s event.
Mr Te Haar said the trust has over the years disbursed P12 million to different charity organisations.
He indicated that the money raised was not earmarked for a particular charity organisation, but people who had applied towards the funding will be assisted after assessing their applications.
He highlighted that the event was meant to bring together families so that they engage in fun activities while they contribute to helping the needy.
Mr Te Haar said they appreciate the support from the companies who sponsored the event.
The overall teams’ category was won by Eat Sum More, Leap Frog followed in position two while Plascon and Apex tied at position three. ENDS
