Assistant Minister of Health, Dr Alfred Madigele has acknowledged that the Bontleng/White City Home Based Care is currently operating without a coordinator.

Dr Madigele said he was also aware that the outgoing coordinator had applied to the ministry to be engaged on contract to continue to provide her services.

However, he said it was not the ministry’s policy to employ staff for a non-governmental organisation such as the Bontleng/White City Community Home Based Care. Notwithstanding, Dr Madigele said the ministry was supporting the Bontleng/White City Community Home Based Care through a community based focal person based in the greater Gaborone Health Management Team.

Gaborone North MP, Mr Haskins Nkaigwa had asked the minister if he was aware that the Bontleng/White City Home Based Care was currently without a coordinator despite request by some home based care members for the outgoing coordinator to be engaged on contractual basis. ENDS
