Ministry aware of cultural and heritage resources

The Ministry of Environment, Wildlife and Tourism is aware of the cultural and heritage resources in Manyana and Nxasin in the Nata/Gweta constituency.

Answering a question in Parliament on behalf of the Minister of Environment, Wildlife and Tourism, the Assistant Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Ms Botlogile Tshireletso said the ministry did not have any tourism development activities in any of the areas.

She said the ministry, through Botswana Tourism Organisation, had development activities in rural areas including Kasane, Tsabong, Moremi, Nata, Lepokole, Qcwihaba, Tsodilo, Lake Ngami, Khawa and Makgadikgadi catchment area.

She said it was envisaged that potential tourism products would be deployed through the 100 monuments programme and community based organisations, which occurred in rural areas.

Nata/Gweta MP, Mr Rayner Makosha had wanted the Minister of Environment, Wildlife and Tourism to state what he was doing regarding rural tourism development in Manyana, Lesoma and Nxasin to boost the tourism sector and the economy. ENDS
