Gunners players disappoint coach

09 Aug 2015

Extension Gunners coach, Keitumetse 'Pio' Paul has expressed disappointment at his team’s performance.

This was despite the team having registered a 2-1 win against Sankoyo Bush Bucks in Maun on Saturday (August 8).

Gunners amassed three points by scoring two quick goals in a be Mobile Premiership encounter, which was largely dominated by the hosts who also scored their first goal after half-time.

In an interview, Paul said his boys did not play according to instructions, adding that the win was luck. He gave credit to the Ngurungu boys for their sterling performance. He said it was unfortunate that Sankoyo lost sight and conceded two goals in the last 15 minutes.

Paul said his charges only got into the game in the last stanza after he made several interventions including three substitutions. One of the substitutes, Pako Modikwa, scored the second goal while Mokoka Mogomotsi scored the first one.

However, Paul said the poor play could be justified by the long trip they travelled from Lobatse to Maun.

On one hand, Ngurungu assistant coach, Tiiso Gadimang said he was impressed by his team’s general performance, but disappointed that they failed to win the game.

He said his boys created many scoring chances but failed to convert them. He also noted that there was need to strengthen the team’s defence, which lacked coordination hence the infiltration by Gunners strike force.

Although the Ngurungu boys failed to impress supporters who flocked the stadium, they displayed a mouth-watering performance that kept their opponents chasing their shadows for the better part of the match.

Their maestro, Moris Ruzivo did not disappoint as he was on top form, keeping the Gunners defence on its toes with his regular visits to their goal posts much to the delight of the Ngurungu supporters.

Sankoyo  lost seven key players during the transfer window and had to replace them. The team has so far managed to secure three players from Orapa United on loan. Ends
