North West motivates learners

09 Aug 2015

Ministry of Education and Skills Development's north west region students have been urged to strive for their best in all instances in order to be meaningful assets towards making a better tomorrow.

Speaking at the region’s excellence awards on Friday (August 7), Dr Molatedi Lesiamang congratulated the excelling students, stating that they conquered because of their tenacious strive towards excellence.

“I will encourage you to be firm to your values and principles but remain individuals who are humble, void of pride and respectful,” Dr Lesiamang said.

Dr Lesitamang who hails from Sehithwa and was invited guest to encourage students in the region said despite the academic talents often identified, it is imperative for students to be custodians of that talent.

He said it has been disappointing to observe that with talents identified in the region, only a few grow to be the best.

He further encouraged stakeholders to come up with measures and platforms that will provide the necessary support to allow young stars to shine to the fullest and be meaningful.

Meanwhile, speaking in an interview, Kgosi Jakoba Seidisa also congratulated students for the excellent effort and encouraged them to work hard for a better tomorrow.

However, he said he was disappointed by some parents who still leave children alone and live in the farms.

He said this contributes much in lower grades of students in the region, adding students who excel are those whose parents take part in their school work.

Kgosi Seidisa also encouraged teachers to continue helping students to excel and urged them to continue doing the good job.

The best overall performing student in the Primary School Leaving Certificate in the region was awarded to Maenge Ditebogo of Sehithwa Primary School, while best overall performing candidate in the Junior Certificate went to Omogolo Pikinini of Shakawe Junior Secondary School.

Best overall BGCSE learners went to Sebeso Tumisang and Mosesanyane Seikgantsho, both from Maun Senior Secondary School.

Teachers from Shakawe and Gumare sub-regions as well as Maun region were also given excellence awards, which included trophies, certificates and prize money. Ends
