Tender process for back -up generator on
06 Aug 2015
The Minister of Finance and Development Planning, Mr Kenneth Matambo says his ministry is not aware that there is no backup generator at Ramotswa Border Post.
Mr Matambo said the Botswana Unified Revenue Services (BURS) recently floated a tender for the supply of a backup generator to 13 border posts including Ramotswa.
Mr Matambo said the tender was expected to be awarded this month, with delivery to follow soon thereafter.
The MP for Ramotswa, Mr Samuel Rantuana had asked the minister if he was aware that there was no backup generator at the Ramotswa Border Gate, and that BURS and immigration staff use their cellphones to provide illumination during power cuts in the evenings.
Mr Rantuana also wanted to know when the ministry would provide a backup generator or gas lights to reduce the risks of increase in crime at the border gate. Ends
