Botswana Chess Federation (BCF) will hold a tournament for the country’s top rated players on Saturday August 8, dubbed ‘Who is Who’.

It will see the top nine players in the country battle for supremacy and the strong players expected to grace the event are Providence Oatlhotse, Thato Olebile, Baone Kealeboga, Barileng Gaealafswe, Moakofhi Notha, Thabo Gumpo, Mosenya Ndawana, Mopati Jobe, and Bright Sinkamba. 

The tournament which is sponsored by Blue Security Solutions with trophies, medals and t-shirts and Collins Chilisa Consultants who will avail chess equipment for the event will be held at Yarona Country Lodge.

According to Keenese Katisenge, the BCF Publicity Director, the event has been planned by the top players who want to use it to help International Master (IM) Providence Oatlhotse prepare for the Millionaire Chess Tournament in Las Vegas, USA. 

“It will seek to set the record straight as to who the toughest chess player in the country is,” Katisenge stated. 

Oatlhotse who is the highest rated player and arguably the best achieved player in the history of chess in Botswana, recently made headlines when he secured himself a spot at the prestigious Millionaire chess tournament to be held in Las Vegas in October. Ends
