06 Aug 2015

Ministry of Youth, Sport and Culture in Letlhakane has donated a toiletry basket to Mr Kevin Mathoadibona, a 21-year-old  man living with disability.

The basket included washing powder, fabric softener, bathing soap, tooth paste, toothbrush, towel and a sum of P100.

Speaking during the handover ceremony, deputy chairperson of the Central District Council Mr Ketshwereng Galeragwe commended the office for going an extra mile by helping the less privileged in society.

He applauded them for living the Vision 2016 by being compassionate and caring.

He observed that they sacrificed their own money for a good social cause.

“I would also like to thank Kevin Mathoadibona’s mother for the good upbringing of her son. She has been unlike other parents who are ashamed of their disabled children and hide them away from people,” said Mr Galeragwe.

For her part, youth ministry officer based in Boteti, Ms Chedza Malapela, said the donation was part of the community service day that they observe every last Friday of the month.

She said that they were able to locate Mr Mathoadibona through the rehabilitation office.

The beneficiary’s mother, Ms Tshwanelo Mathoadibona, stated that her first born son ‘s problems started at a young age after the house he was sleeping in burnt down.

He sustained injuries on the head, which affected his brain development.

He however attended school with normal children. Mr Mathoadibona was assessed by the Ministry of Education and Skills Development with a personal teaching assistant assigned to write examinations for him. He completed his Junior Certificate in 2014 but unfortunately did not do well.

The ambitious young man said that he would like to further his studies and become a mechanic. Ends
