Byte Size College, a computer and business studies school, has opened its doors in Letlhakane.
The college, which opened its doors to students recently, offers courses in Human Resource Management, Travel, Tourism, Hospitality, Marketing, Business Management, Financial Management, Secretarial and Administration, Business Skills, and Purchasing and Supply as well as Computer Operation skills and Information Technology courses.
The institution, according to its head of administration Ms Unoda Zambo, wished to establish itself as an influential player in computer training and business studies in Boteti.
Its long term dream to be the school of choice for corporate and individuals, who desire to acquire quality training in information technology and business studies, motivated the management to open a branch in Letlhakane.
“A survey we conducted revealed that there are several junior and senior schools that are not proportional to tertiary education institutions in that region, then Byte Size College came up with a bridging strategy, to open an affordable college that will accommodate the needs of the idle school leavers there,” she said.
She said the college would also provide an opportunity to mining industry and serving employees to gain an internationally recognised qualification.
She said the survey results showed that more than 90 per cent of employees working in Boteti were from areas far away from Letlhakane and the neighbouring settlements.
“As such Byte Size’s approach is to ensure that the community is empowered and upon attaining a Byte Size qualification they will be able to grab employment opportunities in their community” she said.
The school, which opened its first branch in Gaborone a few years ago, has another branch in Tsabong. Ends
