SSKIA to be international aviation hub
05 Aug 2015
The Minister of Transport and Communication, Mr Tshenolo Mabeo says his ministry, through Civil Aviation Authority of Botswana (CAAB), is developing a Land Use Master Plan for Sir Seretse Khama International Airport (SSKIA).
Mr Mabeo said with the work that was being completed on the main airport terminal building, the main aim and objective of developing SSKIA was to make it an international aviation hub.
He said work on the implementation of the initiative was ongoing, and there was an announcement last month of an additional international airline coming to SSKIA.
The minister further said the development of an international hub was a long term process, which his ministry would continue to progress, through the normal planning and budgeting process.
Tati West MP, Mr Biggie Butale had wanted the minister to state if his ministry had thought of ways of making SSKIA a regional international hub, and if so, when would the vision be realised. Ends
