MoH clinical audits continuous

03 Aug 2015

The Assistant Minister of Health, Dr Alfred Madigele has told Parliament that his ministry carries out clinical audits at most hospitals on a continuous basis.

Dr Madigele said maternal and neo-natal mortality audits were conducted whenever there was death. He stated that the main objective of those audits was to improve patient care and outcomes.

He said it was done through a systematic process where detailed review of the care provided was done against clinical guidelines, protocols and standards of practice to identify areas requiring improvements. He stated that clear recommendations were then made to the respective facility.

Okavango MP, Mr Bagalatia Arone had asked the minister how often in a year the ministry carries out clinical audits in the health facilities in Botswana and to state the main objectives of such audits. Ends
