Road project engages six companies

Minister of Transport and Communication, Mr Tshenolo Mabeo has told Parliament that the Tonota/Francistown road upgrading to dual carriageway and Thapama interchange has been awarded to China Railways Seventh Group at a contract amounting to P979, 995, 312 38.
Minister Mabeo said the dual carriage way was targeted to be completed by October 2016 and the project was currently on schedule.
He said the main contract has subcontracted six citizen owned contract companies at the tune of P58 720 000, and three local suppliers were engaged in the project and cumulative amount paid to date stand at P49 589 570.
Francistown East MP, Mr Buti Billy had asked the minister to provide statistics showing the number of citizen owned companies that had been subcontracted by the main contractor currently engaged in the construction of the new A1 road between Tonota and Francistown and the amount of money paid to them or to be paid.
