Botswana Netball Association (BONA) will send a delegation to the International Netball Federation (INF) congress in Australia on August 4. The congress runs alongside the World Netball Cup, which starts on August 7-16.
A press release from BONA stated that Botswana would be represented by Kelebogile Maplanka and Kealeboga Ramogobya.
BONA would also send an observer, Prisca Mokgadi, who would lead the local organising committee of the 2017 World Netball Youth Cup (WNYC) billed for Botswana.
The release said BONA would be accorded an opportunity to make a presentation on Botswana and the WNYC 2017.
The release noted that the INF had further granted the International Working Group (IWG) on Women and Sport to set up a stall at the congress venue to provide more information on the IWG and use the opportunity to lobby for the netball member states to start considering signing the Brighton and Helsinki Declaration.
“The intention is to target a mass signing for INF members in 2017 when the congress will meet in Botswana alongside the 2017WNYC.”
It stated that the IWG would be represented by Boitumelo Kenosi and its co-chair Ruth Maphorisa who will also be part of the presentation to the congress when BONA updates on the 2017WNYC.
The statement further noted that BONA president and also Africa Netball President and INF Board director, Tebogo Lebotse-Sebego will attend the INF board meeting to be held alongside the World Netball Cup in Sydney.
It said Tebotse-Sebego had also been appointed to the Sydney Games as a member of the Jury of Appeal, a panel that will manage the games appeals procedures.
The release further noted that INF will run a three-day observer programme targeting future hosts of international netball events alongside the Sydney games of which BONA had registered a delegation to learn and benchmark at this program as they prepare for the 2017 WNYC. Ends
