Mmea community adequately served

Assistant Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Ms Botlogile Tshireletso is satisfied that the Mmea community is adequately served.
Though Mmea, which is located in Boteti East has never had a qualified resident social welfare/ development officer, Ms Botlogile said it had not been affected.
“This has in no way negatively affected the community social development and welfare programmes offered by the government as evidenced by the number of residents already assisted,” she said.
Ms Tshireletso said individual assessment for eligibility for government programmes were carried out by an experienced senior remote area development assistant, who was also assisted by a social welfare technician based in Mokubilo.
Her ministry, she said, did not have any immediate plans to deploy any other qualified staff to Mmea as there were budgetary constraints, which had necessitated the prioritisation for the competing needs.
The MP for Boteti East, Mr Sethomo Lelatisitswe had asked the assistant minister if she was aware that Mmea had never had a qualified resident social welfare/ development officer. Ends
