The Institute of Internal Auditors Botswana (IIAB) will host its annual two-day Internal Audit Pitso to discuss issues relevant to the internal audit profession and its stakeholders from August 10.
The event aims to address the critical role internal auditors can play in improving governance systems in their respective organisations.
A statement from IIAB reveals that the Minister of Infrastructure, Science and Technology Nonofho Molefhi and the Global Institute of Internal Auditors (GIIA) president and CEO Mr Richard Chambers will attend the pitso. Mr Chambers will be accompanied by the former chairman of GIIA and vice president, Internal Audit Centre of Excellence Huawei Technologies, Mr Phil Tarling.
The press release states that Mr Chambers will make a presentation entitled Key Global Trends in Internal Auditing and also lead a discussion themed The Attributes of a High Performing Internal Audit Department.
Mr Chambers leverages on more than four decades of internal audit and related experience to lead nearly 200 professional staff members at the GIIA headquarters in Florida, US.
The IIAB is the only professionally recognised body in Botswana that is entirely dedicated to the development of the internal audit profession.
The organisation is an affiliate of the African Federation of Institutes of Internal Auditors (AFIIA) and the GIIA.
The local chapter commemorated May 2015 as part of the global internal audit awareness month through an awareness walk and a family fun day in Francistown.
The event resulted in GIIA bestowing the 2015 Building Awareness Champion Award on IIAB.
The award was in appreciation of the institute’s outstanding commitment to advancing the internal audit profession by taking part in the International Internal Audit Awareness Month activities.
Botswana is the second African country to win the award after Swaziland. Ends
