BCL pays over P8m in legal services
29 Jul 2015
The Minister of Minerals, Energy and Water Affairs, Mr Kitso Mokaila says BCL paid about P9 million for all law firms engaged in 2008.
Mr Mokaila said his ministry was not in a position to disclose how much was paid to each of the law firms. He said it would amount to disclosing confidential information between BCL and the law firms.
Mr Mokaila stated that the payment was for the provision of a suite of services covering filing of court papers, drafting and reviewing legal agreements or contacts as well as preparation of legal opinions and litigation matters on labour and commercial disputes.
Selebi Phikwe West MP, Mr Dithapelo Keorapetse had asked the minister the law firms engaged by BCL since 2008. He also asked the minister how much money each law firm was paid and the type of services it rendered to BCL. Ends
