CEDA chief supports Serowe show

27 Jul 2015

Citizen Entrepreneurial Development Agency (CEDA) chief executive officer Mr Thabo Thamane has vowed to support beneficiaries of his financial institutions to ensure that they grow their investments.

Speaking during Serowe District Show official opening, Saturday (July 25), Mr Thamane defended his decision to sponsor agriculture shows against what he termed negative criticism from certain quarters.

He argued that so long as sponsoring and supporting agriculture shows creates value chain and employment to the people CEDA will not hesitate to offer support. He said by supporting those they loaned their monies to would be helping to inject economic growth.

He revealed that his financial institution has invested P451 million in Central District. The amount in question, he said amounts to 28 per cent of the overall invested funds countrywide.

Of the P451 million spent in Central District, P231 million went to agriculture. Of the P231 million spent on agriculture P122 million was channelled towards cattle breeding, P81 million went to poultry and the remaining P27 million was spent on horticulture.

Mr Thamane said based on the huge amount of money spent on agriculture it was not surprising that they felt obliged to support their clients. Ends
