Companies equip youth

HOPE Worldwide Botswana in conjunction with Viewfinder Botswana have equipped 17 youths with photographic skills to make them employable.

Coordinator of Youth Programmes at HOPE Worldwide, Ms Segopotso Sebakile said the one-week photography workshop offered participants the necessary life skills and prepared them for the work environment.

Ms Sebakile said this at the participants’ graduation ceremony in Molepolole recently. The 17 youths were the first beneficiaries of the programme.

The graduates said the workshop has improved their lives and they would benefit from it.

Furthermore, the programme has sparked hope on those participants who were unemployed as they have now identified their talent.

One of the graduates, Mr Donald Molefi said the project has presented a lot of opportunities for him, as they could venture into freelance photography.

Mr Molefi, who also wants to pursue further studies in photography, said he was motivated by the programme.

One graduate, Ms Mary Tumelo said the graduation was an achievement. “I went through a lot of challenges and struggles in order to succeed in this programme,” she said.

The 17 graduates have already established a joint business project called Bambanani. Although the project is still in the inception stage, the self-driven youth are willing to make it a success. Ends
