Ministry to consider street lights in Letlhakane

23 Jul 2015

Assistant Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Mr Frans Van Der Westhuizen is aware that Letlhakane is a busy village owing to mining activities, and that it does not have street lights.

Lack of streets lights, he admitted, might pose danger to people who have to catch buses for their night shift.

Mr Van Der Westhuizen said his ministry, through the Central District Council, would consider the installation of lights, particularly flood lights in Letlhakane.

The MP for Boteti East, Mr Sethomo Lelatisitswe had asked the minister if he was aware that Letlhakane was a busy village throughout the year owing to the mining activity, and if he was aware that this poses danger to employees especially the women who had to catch a bus for their night shift.

Mr Lelatisitswe also wanted to know if he does not see the need to put street lights to curb such dangers. Ends
