A Botswana Congress Party (BCP) member from the Okavango constituency has died in a road accident near Kang Saturday morning (July 18). The retained BCP chairperson, Ms Motsei Rapelana announced this at the party elective congress in Kanye over the holidays.

She said the deceased, together with six others, were travelling to Kanye to attend the party congress when the accident occurred. Assistant Superintendent Kabelano Tebogo of Kang Police also confirmed the incident in an interview.

He said the Toyota Condo the party supporters were travelling in veered off the road and overturned when the driver was trying to avoid the bus which was coming from behind.

Asst. Supt Tebogo said two other passengers, a man and a woman, were referred to Princess Marina Hospital in Gaborone for urgent medical attention while one was still convalescing at Hukuntsi primary hospital.

The other three were treated for minor injuries and subsequently released. ENDS
