Search party discovers bodies

The bodies of three BCL employees who died after a ground fall at Selebi shaft on July 18 have all been recovered. The first two bodies were recovered in the afternoon on July 20 while the third was recovered later that day.
According to media updates from the BCL public relations office, on July 18 at around 3pm, an official report was made regarding the fall of ground at 835 level stope where secondary drilling was being conducted.
Three employees were unaccounted for and a BCL proto team set in motion a rescue and recovery exercise to rescue the employees.
Family members were also notified about the incident while the shaft was closed for production operations until the matter had been resolved.
The inspector of mines was also on site and investigations into the cause of the incident were set in motion.Meanwhile, the names of the three employees have not been released until their next of keen have been informed. Ends
