Kgatleng district commissioner, Ms Wame Samapipi, said Re a Nyalana helped the region after a committee that she was part of a group that found out that the lack of stationery, among other challenges, was negatively affecting academic performance.
Ms Samapipi, who is also a life member of the society, said Re a Nyalana presented the plea to the director of Darimo Trading, Mr Dawood Khan, who responded positively by giving them the calculators.
A representative of the regional education office, Mr Peter Mafokate, said the gifts came at a time when the region was grappling with shortage of resources.
He said at times, shortage of funds hindered them from providing materials that students needed. He said the donation would go a long way in addressing shortage of resources in schools.
Mr Mafokate added that provision of quality education was expensive and he lauded partners who came forth to assist improve performance in schools.
He said collaboration with stakeholders was critical, and that government encouraged it through the public-private partnerships (PPP) initiative.
