BOPSSA official claims sabotage
16 Jul 2015
President of the Botswana Primary Schools Sports Association (BOPSSA) Busani Segweni has accused some critical stakeholders of being hell-bent on seeing his association fail.
Speaking during the official opening of the 2015 BOPSAA finals at Serowe Sports Complex, Segweni accused some regional education officers of denying sports teachers imprest in order to bar them from participating in BOPSSA activities.
He alleged that certain officers, who are usually long serving public officers, are sabotaging members of the association. The BOPSAA president threatened to name and shame the officers and even furnish Assistant Minister of Education and Skills Development Moiseraele Goya with their names.
He also accused council officers tasked with supporting sports activities at primary schools of compromising sports development. He said that sports teachers are being ill-treated by officers who should be assisting them in their work.
“Had it not been for passion some of us here could have long quit,” he said.
For his part, Goya said the accusations are “true and painful.” ENDS
