Air Botswana improves on time

17 Jul 2015

The general manager of the national airline, Mr Ben Dahwa, has said Air Botswana has managed to score well over 85 per cent on the On Time Performance scale.

Speaking at an Air Botswana Stakeholder Forum in Gaborone on Wednesday, July 15 Mr Dahwa said their flights have done well in departing and arriving on schedule.

He said the development has helped them score 87 per cent on the OTP scale.

Mr Dahwa attributed the success to the commitment of staff.

He said that they now live the purpose of the national airline, which is commitment to the provision, development, operation and management of reliable air transport services in the country and beyond its borders.

The general manager said as facilitators and enablers of connectivity and accessibility within and outside Botswana in support of trade and tourism, they have set themselves an OTP target of over 90 per cent.

He said that they have managed to beat other reputable airlines thanks to their committed and hardworking personnel in the face of some serious operational challenges. He said negotiations with the shareholder to upgrade the airline fleet are at an advanced stage and promising.

He said this will include equipment renewal. Mr Dahwa said they boast of P30 million grounds handling equipment at their cargo unit and encouraged Batswana to make use of the facility.

He said, as part of their five year strategy, they are working hard to review internal processes and procedures, which include among others, the use of technology to enhance delivery as well as optimal utilisation of human resource. ENDS
