Church aids needy family
15 Jul 2015
Methodist church women across the country convened in Sekoma village to donate to the Matlhodi family over the weekend.
Popularly known as Manyano within the church, the women donated blankets, clothes and toiletries to the family.
According to the president of the Manyano Mafikeng branch Ms Yoliswa Majova, the relationship between her church and the family dates back to 2012 when they decided to take care of a child in the family who was born in prison.
“Of the four circuits in Botswana, we made a decision to look after the child while the mother was in prison and even after she returned home,” she noted.
She said that their follow-up visits revealed that the family was faced with several challenges, among them lack of accommodation, clothing and blankets.
Ms Majova said the donation was part of their commitment to promoting early childhood care, which will ultimately contribute to the comprehensive development of future leaders.
She said their intention is to support the child to grow up to be a dignified citizen and leader.
She said that their support has been extended to the rest of the family members.
She said that they will continue to help families and communities. ENDS
