Mud Run Race coming
15 Jul 2015
In a rare feat on the local sporting calendar, the Itse Magheba Tours will on September present the first ever mud run race dubbed the Diretse Tough and Dirty Time challenge. The mud obstacles are slated to be staged at the Bonnington Farms behind the Grand Palm Hotel.
Itse Magheba Tours is a travel and tour company bringing a new tourism concept business based in Gaborone which was formed to provide an unrivalled selection of sightseeing adventures and themed excursions of the capital city and its surrounding areas.
The ambitious business venture is the brainchild of the go-getter Mmuso Tebogo Kgaodi.
“We are bringing to Botswana an event like no other, the first of its kind, a chance to have wild and spontaneous fun with friends and family at the same time doing it for excitement and fitness,” he said.
Kgaodi said the challenge was a sport tourism development initiative aimed at achieving the goals of socio economic diversification in Botswana.
The race is scheduled to take place between September 11-13 and is supported by Botswana National Museum and Art Gallery.
Kgaodi explained that part of their plans was to attract tourists and investors as well as market small business ventures as international participants are expected to grace the event.
Kgaodi appealed to local companies to support the initiative as it is only at its infancy stages but set to become bigger and better with time.
“Every company has its own way of giving back to the community. Companies will be accorded an opportunity to brand their chosen obstacles and set the stalls with full merchandise to sell their products and services,” said Kgaodi.
Members of the media will also be engaged in the obstacle race.
As part of their corporate social responsibility some of the proceeds will be donated to the Paralympic Association of Botswana (PASSOBO).
The overall winner in the individual award will walk home P5 000 richer. Ends
