15 Jul 2015

Assistant Minister of Education and Skills Development has informed Parliament that there is a delegation that visited Letlhakane Senior Secondary School from the regional office to assess the condition of the school as part of the region’s scheduled visits to schools.

Mr Kgotla Autlwetse said the delegation found the school dilapidated and there was need to reinforce teaching and learning.

“The school requires general maintenance of school buildings including student hostels, staff housing and the repair of water leaks as well as enhanced support for teaching and learning,” he said.

He further indicated that two companies namely Two Hours and Quick Freeze were on site to start the renovation exercise of staff houses.

“Already geysers have been installed in 57 out of 80 houses and funds permitting the scope of the repairs will be revisited to cater for the hostels and academic area,” he said.

Also, he said the school was supporting teaching and learning through numerous interventions including the mentorship programme and increased teacher supervision.

Member of Parliament for Boteti East, Mr Sethomo Lelatisitswe had asked the minister if he was aware of a delegation that was sent to Letlhakane Senior Secondary School to assess the school situation and if so, what were the findings and what has since been done. Ends
