In their bid to leverage modern technology, BotswanaPost has launched PosoOnline an electronic bill presentment and payment system which delivers a bill from the Biller to the customer.
The online system allows individuals or companies to view and pay bills via multiple electronic channels and further process payment of the bill electronically.
Currently customers can view and pay their Orange Postpaid bills and BotswanaPost post boxes with phase two expected to be rolled out in the six months which will entail additional channels for both presentment and payment.
Speaking at the product launch on Tuesday (July 14) in Gaborone, BotswanaPost acting CEO, Ms Setshedi Botlhole-Mmopi said the online system is a revamped solution to further tap into the electronic world and provide bill presentment and payment service for local business community and residents in a simplified manner.
She highlighted that the need to innovate around their core mail products in order for them to stay relevant, has led to the birth of the electronic bill presentment and payment system.
Ms Botlhole-Mmopi said PosoOnline improves customer service dramatically, while providing cost savings and revenue enhancement opportunities.
“Bills will be presented via the PosoOnline portal, paid using the card not present option, where one uses their credit card to pay on the net,” she stated.
She explained that billers will supply billing information on a regular or real-time basis to BotswanaPost of which the billing information will be converted for printing and distribution as physical mail or electronic presentment on PosoOnline for distribution in a summarised bill format.
She further noted that customer bills will be archived for future accessibility to the customer and Biller.
BotswanaPost has partnered with a South African company Interfile which is known for developing the South African Revenue Services (SARS) eFiling solution.
Interfile Chief Information Officer, Mr Christopher Belford said PosoOnline has been subjected to rigorous testing and complies with protection of personal information and electronic communications regulation.
He stated that the biller will benefit from reduced turnaround between distribution of bill and payment as the system is a 24/7 business hours. Mr Belford said with this system, customers are presented with an opportunity to pay multiple accounts in a single place hence offering them convenience.
He said the service is extended free to the end user, adding that already 83 new users had enrolled. Ends
