Headmen of records not in oath act

Assistant Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Ms Botlogile Tshireletso has said she is aware that headmen of records do not administer oath as they were not included in the Commissioner of Oath Act.
Answering a question in Parliament, Ms Tshireletso said there were no plans to authorise them to do so because it was a legal matter, therefore the need to be alive to the implications.
She further said her ministry would engage the Attorney General’s Chambers with a view to exploring the possibility of their inclusion in the Commissioner of Oath.
MP of Nata-Gweta, Mr Polson Majaga had asked the assistant minister if she was aware that the headmen of records could not administer oath, and if so, were there are any plans to authorise them to do so. ENDS
