MoESD to revist office space for schools
15 Jul 2015
Ministry of Education and Skills Development is aware that all the junior secondary schools that were built prior to 2008 were not provided with offices for senior teachers.
As such, Assistant Minister of Education and Skills Development, Mr Kgotla Autlwetse said if there was need to reprimand a junior in private an alternative room had to be sought by the senior teacher.
Answering a Parliament, Mr Autlwetse stated that there had been a growth in administrative posts following the introduction of the Pastoral Policy; hence they were aware that had created a need for additional office space in the junior secondary schools.
Mr Autlwetse said they shall revisit school expansion plans to accommodate that aspect going forward. MP for Boteti East, Mr Sethomo Lelatisitswe had asked the assistant minister if he was aware that senior teachers did not have office space at their respective schools to enable them to do their jobs adequately especially where they need to reprimand subordinate in private.
