BDF VI men triumph over Spiking Stars

BDF VI men fought fiercely over the weekend to book themselves a third spot on the Mascom Volleyball League quashing Spiking Stars dreams to finish in the top three position. 

The results place BDF VI at a better position to battle for the prestigious title when round two begins in Autumn.

The games, which were played in Molepolole, ended the first round of the league for men with all teams having played 11 games. 

BDF VI displayed consistency and maturity which earned them victory over their counterpart. 

The two sides gave volleyball fans thrilling moments as they turned the pitch into a battle field with five sets played to separate the two teams.

BDF VI lost the first set 15-25 because Spiking Stars attacked fearlessly. 

In the second set, BDF VI capitalised on the young boys’ mistakes and won the set by 25-20. 

Despite the high energy displayed by the young side, Spiking Stars lost most of the balls on the service while BDF VI remained composed for the entire game.

Spiking Stars regained momentum during the third set and won by 25-23. BDF VI kept their eyes on the ball and equalised on the fourth set for another draw bringing the set score to 2-2 and finally winning the deciding set by 15-11. 

A win for BDF VI means they are third on the log with 29 points.  Police VI is the log leaders with 31 points with Kutlwano sitting on second position with 31 points while Spiking Stars are sitting at fourth position with 29 points.

Diphatsa is number five with 25 points followed by Mag Stimela with 25 points. 

At the seventh spot is Itekeng followed by Kalavango at eighth position and Mafolofolo at ninth spot, all with 19 points. 

Other games played in Molepolole include BDF VI beating Kalavango 3-0 while Spiking Stars thrashed Prisons VI 3-0. Kutlwano beat Mafolofolo 3-0 and Police VI beat Prisons VI 3-1. Finally Kutlwano beat Desert Kings 3-0.

While Mascom Volleyball League games for men round one ended over the weekend, the national team for men is on camp preparing for the All Africa Games. 

The national team is leaving this weekend for Egypt to play All Africa Games scheduled from July 19 until 20. ENDS
