Nation prays as holidays approach

Vice President Mokgweetsi Masisi was among hundreds of worshipers who attended a service of different church denominations at Boipuso Hall on Sunday, July 12.

The religious groups prayed for the national leadership and an end to all forms of socio-economic problems afflicting the nation.

Pastor Boitumelo Kabo, who is also a member of Botswana Bible Society, called on God to guide and give political leaders the strength to lead the nation in the right direction.

Pastor Kabo also implored the country’s leadership to be humble and to endeavour to be judicious as well as seek to God’s assistance.

The church service was held as the country prepares to celebrate the President’s Day Holidays next week (July 20-21). 

Pastor Kabo also urged political leaders to live a spiritual life so that they could courteously, humbly and patiently lead the nation.

Reverend Thabo Mampane, who prayed for peace and stability, said Botswana should maintain its tranquility and take a deliberate decision, through the assistance of God, to maintain the status.

He said peace and stability could promote a healthy and balanced socio-economic atmosphere for the benefit of all.

Rev. Mampane called upon God to maintain the situation particularly that the country was going through hard and challenging times.

He also said there was need to retain peace and ensure its prevalence in all corners of the country.

Apostles Johannes Kgwarapi on the other hand, prayed for economic prosperity and called upon God to guide the business sector as well as to make the Pula competitive among international currencies so that it sustains the country’s wealth and job creation. 

Pastor Nchunga Nchunga meanwhile prayed for rain and electricity. 

The church service was also attended by cabinet ministers, diplomats, and the hosting minister, Mr Thapelo Olopeng of the Ministry of Youth, Sport and Culture. ENDS
