Minister of Defence, Justice and Security, Mr Shaw Kgathi, has retracted his submission, in relation to MPs and judicial officers that he made in response to Question 461 by Gabane-Mmankgodi MP, Maj. General Pius Mokgware, on March 24, 2014.

In his response to Maj. Gen.Mokgware’s question, Defence, Justice and Security minister said he had indicated, in respect of Declaration of Assets, that Cabinet members were declaring their interests to President Lt Gen. Seretse Khama Ian Khama, Judges to the Chief Justice and MPs to the Speaker of the National Assembly, but had since established that it was not the case yet. 

“My answer at the time was based on the expectation on the part of the executive that MPs would declare their interests to the Speaker and judicial officers to the Chief Justice,” he added.

In that regard, Mr Kgathi requested that this part of his response be expunged from the Hansard of March 24, 2014. ENDS
