12 Jul 2015

Mahalapye community and the public have been advised to take care of government infrastructure, premises and everything that government builds for their own good.

Handing over the refurbished Mahalapye District Show Ground houses by Botswana Railways, the Minister of Transport and Communications, Mr Tshenolo Mabeo said it was the duty of all to look after government premises as they were meant to develop and uplift them.

Mr Mabeo said some people have made it a habit to vandalise and steal from government premises leaving them broken and dilapidated.

He appealed to all to guard such premises, which would be used by people guarding the Mahalapye Show Ground to curb theft and vandalism during the show.

The minister said the rehabilitation of the buildings was another step in the right direction to revive the agricultural show in Mahalapye Sub-district.

Mr Mabeo said the government has availed numerous initiatives aimed at eradicating poverty and that most of them were agricultural related.

He noted that in their efforts to connect communities through roads and communications, they also realised that most communities in and around Mahalapye still depend largely on farming for their livelihood. Ends
