Super saves Cabinet
12 Jul 2015
Cabinet’s ever-shining striker, Lt Gen. Seretse Khama Ian Khama, affectionately known as Super in football circles notched a superb strike in the dying minutes of the second half to pull one back for his side against Permanent Secretaries.
Deep in the second half when it seemed Cabinet had little interest in keeping the ball and trying hard to cancel the lead from their opponents, General Khama rounded his opponent on the edge of the box before unleashing a perfect shot that ricocheted the upright before sinking into a yawning net.
Perhaps the only player who was most adept at keeping the ball from the PS team was Permanent Secretary to the President, Carter Morupisi who offered a fascinating game to his opponents with his fine touches.
Whenever in possession, the Cabinet midfield manned by Kitso ‘Skeli’ Mokaila and the towering Alfred ‘Ali’ Madigele often looked ponderous.
Cabinet attacking midfielder Thapelo ‘Tipps’ Olopeng was constantly buzzing around danger areas and was often let down by Eric ‘Dumba Mrico’ Molale who fired blanks.
Tshekedi Khama who spent the first half shouting instructions from the bench was introduced on the stroke of half time and joined the likes of Vice President Mokgweetsi Masisi, Sadique Kebonang, Prince Maele and Kgotla Autlwetse who only appeared to be skillful in pressing the ball than making an accurate single pass.
With the final whistle fast approaching, General Khama who had switched position from the right wing to the left looked more purposeful swinging in great crosses which were misdirected over the posts by former Notwane FC and Lotsane Senior Secondary school striker Dikgang ‘Philabao’ Makgalemele.
General Khama added some moments of brilliance with delicate showboating much to the excitement of the fans who filled most parts of the western stands.
Cabinet floated some FIFA regulations bringing in two goal minders in the mould of Dorcas Makgato and Unity Dow.
On the opposing side Thatayaone Dedede remained resolute between the posts.
The game organised by the inter-ministerial organising committee was part of the Public Service Day celebrations which started on Thursday (July 09). Ends
