Jwaneng amusement park complete

Assistant Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Mr Frans Van Der Westhuisen said Jwaneng amusement park was completed and handed over to Jwaneng Town Council on June 2014.
Answering a parliamentary question, Mr Van Der Westhuizen said the project was not completed within time and budget as the first contractor, who was engaged was terminated by council due to poor performance.
The assistant minister said the tender for the management of the park by the private sector was closed this month.
He said the objective was to generate revenue for council and provide recreation to Jwaneng community. However, assistant the minister said he was not in a position to say the number of young people who would be assisted by the project as the bid was closed.
Jwaneng-Mabutsane MP, Mr Shawn Nthaile had asked the minister to state the status of the amusement park project giving an outline of what the ministry intends to achieve and whether the park completed on time and within budget.
He also wanted to know the reasons for delays if any, and what action he intends to take to ensure that the project realizes its original objective. In addition he wanted to know the number of young people who were being assisted to benefit from the project. Ends
