Govt evaluates GABS performance
09 Jul 2015
The Assistant Minister of Agriculture, Mr Fidelis Molao, has told Parliament that the Department of Information Technology (DIT) set up a technical team at the beginning of this financial year to evaluate performance of the Government Accounting and Budgeting System (GABS) countrywide and recommend corrective measures.
Mr Molao said the point of the system used in Livestock Advisory Centre (LAC) was interfaced to GABS and that too would be evaluated. He stated that once the evaluation was completed, corrective actions would be put in place to improve the performance of the system.
In Letlhakane, he said the LAC was currently using mainly the manual process to assist customers adding that plans to improve including availing suitable computers were ongoing, and they expect the system to be improved before the end of September 2015.
MP for Boteti East, Mr Sethomo Lelatisitswe had asked the assistant minister if he was aware that the newly introduced GABS in LAC across the country especially at Letlhakane was more often than not down, and when would that be attended to. ENDS
