Kutlwano elect new committee 8232

Kutlwano volleyball club elected a new club executive committee during their annual general meeting (AGM) over the weekend.
There were five vacant posts that were up for grabs.

The new committee comprises of the chairperson, Kediretse Ramahobo, who was unopposed after the outgoing chairperson Kagiso Maswele and outgoing treasurer Shadrack Kapeko turned down nomination to contest.

Kagiso Maswele was then nominated to contest for the vice-chairperson. He won ahead of Doubt Moilwa for the position with a difference of 16 votes.

Moilwa, after a defeat against Maswele was again nominated to stand for the treasurer position, contesting against Karabo Malefha and came out victorious, securing the position with a margin of 20 votes.

The secretary general position was contested against by two gentlemen and a lady. Still with a convincing margin Shadreck Kapeko, who has been the clubs treasurer for two years since 2013 emerged the winner.

The last post to be contested for was the public relations officer and  Keamogetse Motse was elected as the public relations officer with an ecstatic victory defeating Shadrack Modiakgotla and Tjiapo Madeluka.

When addressing the meeting, the outgoing chairperson, Maswele emphasised a lot upon limited funding which have been their prime challenge since assuming office.

“We really had some travel challenges, since we all know that Botswana national sports council is no longer sponsoring teams to go to club championships,” he said.


However he applauded the travel sponsors Vincent Travel Tours who contributed immensely to funding of the team to make it possible to travel to Maputo for the zone 6 competitions.
Maswela took time to applaud the players who have performed well during games.

He encouraged them to maintain the performance saying a good performance helps the team to market itself better out there to the sponsors. Maswela encouraged players not to be excessively dependent on the club, saying the club is having glitches with acquiring enough funding.

He said players should also try to make money by finding side jobs, saying this will also help grow players and contribute to better their welfare.

In his remarks, new chairperson, Ramahobo said he has a good record with the club therefore have only good intentions for  the club.

Ramahobo who is a Kutlwano former player,said the key ingredient  to make a better team is taking good care of players’ welfare. Ends
