05 Jul 2015
The former mayor of Lobatse, Caroline Lesang has donated basketball kits worth over P13 000 to Lobatse Senior Secondary School (LOBSEC) basketball teams.
Speaking at the handing over ceremony, Lesang said the donation was a response after she was approached by the sports department of the school sometime last year.
Lesang said she managed to buy the kits after forming a charity fundraising committee through the Mayor’s Charity Fund while she was still the mayor.
The former mayor said the handing over was delayed as the printing and labelling of the kits was not done.
She added that she found it fit to help the school with the knowledge that it would boost the team’s performance in competitions.
She said the school was well known for its thrilling performances in sports, adding that such donations would help bring back their pride.
Receiving the kits, the school head, Mpaladzi Majingo said he was thrilled with the donation, adding that it would bring a difference in the team’s performance and hence put the school in a better position.
He also thanked the former mayor for the donation as well as the sports department for making the request for the kits.
For his part, the sports master of the school, Tshepo Moilwe said the request was made after realising that the teams used old and not up to standard kits.
The kits, which are branded All Kasi, consists of two sets; one for the boys’ team and another for the girl’s team as well as three pairs of track-suits for the coaches. ENDS
