Sekgele sails through

29 Jun 2015

Sekgele Junior Secondary School Under 17 team has qualified for the COPA Coca Cola Botswana Integrated Sports Association (BISA) finals.

The Thamaga-based school held Artesia junior school to a 1-1 draw in a deciding a match played at Glen Valley on Sunday, June 28.

Sekgele made their intention of qualifying clear when by winning all their games on June 27, before going past the ‘stubborn’ Artesia to book a place in the final.

Artesia were the better side and displayed good techniques on the ball, but luck was not on their side as they failed to utilise the golden opportunities they had on the day.

Maatla Ntswelelebe gave Sekgele a 10th minute lead after receiving a killer pass from James Mphele. Artesia tried hard to level matters but found the Sekgele defenders alert and they went to the half-time break trailing.

After half time, Artesia came back rejuvenated and enjoyed more ball possession.

Their hard work paid dividend on the 63rd minute after Raymond Arabang capitalised on a blunder from Sekgele goalkeeper Moatisi Mokgatlaemang and levelled matters. The game finished in a one all draw and Sekgele progressed because they had scored more goals in their previous games. Sekgele will face Ledumadumane in the final next month.

In the girls category Maoka Junior School and Sedibelo from Mochudi managed to make it through to the finals.

In the under-15 girls category only Radikolo from Mochudi and Tlokweng qualified, while on the boy’s category a game between Bokamoso and Kopong will be played to determine the team that would join Maoka in the finals.

The two teams were level on goal scored goals conceded and number of cards received in their different games. The finals will be played in Gaborone from July 11-14. ENDS
