Youth appreciate pitso
29 Jun 2015
A lot of young people who attended the Youth Pitso in Francistown have heaped praise on the forum for the information they managed to learn.
The youth benefitted from presentations on opportunities available to them in three sectors, namely agriculture, mining and tourism. Mr Itekeng Poloko from IT Metal Work and Fabrication who represented North East region was happy that the forum afforded him the opportunity to learn from peers and those who are already in the industry.
He said he was interested in the mining sector and he learnt more about opportunities that exist in the mining sector. Mr Poloko said he also learnt the importance of safety in the mining industry which should not be compromised.
He urged young people to come up with new ideas in mining that are realistic and said they should not rely on government to provide them with everything.
He highlighted that he also realised that though some youth have academic qualifications, they lacked the necessary industry skills, hence the need for government to make room for such people because they can contribute in the development of the country.
Ms Kefilwe Engine from Selebi Phikwe who is in the agriculture sector said that she was raised in an agricultural environment that is why she has passion for agriculture.
She said she had learnt that for one to succeed in business they needed to be patient as they may encounter many challenges.
She said she was glad to have attended the event and that she learnt that networking with those whose businesses have developed also helps in ones’ growth. ENDS
