28 Jun 2015
Botswana Squash Rackets Association (BSRA) will host All Africa Junior Squash Championship in Gaborone from July 10-13.
The championship, which would be open to all eligible players under 19 years in the African region, would be staged at the National Squash Centre.
A press release from BSRA stated that following a successful hosting of the All Africa Junior Squash Championship this year in line with the BNSC 2028 Strategic Plan, the association was confident that African countries and junior players would turn up in substantial numbers, hence anticipation for yet another successful hosting.
The release said the championship served as a unique opportunity to expose players to a competitive tournament and therefore enhancing their skills and appreciation of the game.
It also states that following the performance during the all Africa Junior Squash Championship (AAJSC), local players will be given an opportunity to improve and work on their weakness noted during the AAJSC with the support and encouragement of a home crowd.
As for the development of squash, it says the association looks forward to improving its hosting experience and increasing visibility of the sport prior to the Botswana Open Championships which will fall on August 28-31.
The association has implored the nation to help in growing squash.
However, it has commended all who contributed and made the all Africa Junior Squash Championship a success, including different sponsors for their support.
Meanwhile, the association remains optimistic that local players will continue to show improvement on their game in the coming Botswana Junior Open. Ends
