Awards motivate public officers

25 Jun 2015

The Ministry of State President performance award ceremony was a build up to next month’s observance of the public service day, according to secretary for Ministry for Presidential Affairs and Public Administration, Ms Kebonye Moepeng.

In her welcome remarks at the ministry award ceremony in Gaborone recently, Ms Moepeng said what both the awards and the public service day had in common was an appreciation that there was need to provide positive encouragement to public servants whose records of service stood as a benchmark for others.

“Tonight’s awards will fall into a number of categories namely performance based awards, exemplary employee, best customer care, silver jubilee, best employee, with addition of this year being best work related teams,” she said.

With regards to the theme: Leading innovation in Public Service Delivery and beyond 2016,”Ms Moepeng said it was a reminder that a public service must be forward thinking as well as mindful of the present daily need of a customer.

“If anything, this quality for all is more imperative for those serving in the Ministry, who have been specifically tasked with promoting good governance through effective leadership and coordination,” she said.

Ms Moepeng implored the workers to individually introspect about what more each of them could individually and collectively do, to better serve the needs of their customers in realising the shared vision of improved quality of life for all. ENDS
