Minister to appoint BNYC council
24 Jun 2015
Following the proposed restructuring of the Botswana National Youth Council (BNYC) in the last parliament sitting, Minister of Youth, Sport and Culture, Mr Thapelo Olopeng, says plans are underway to appoint new members of the council.
Mr Olopeng said this while addressing Roman Catholic Church youth who had come in large numbers to celebrate the Day of the African Child at Ave Maria in Gaborone. “I am in the process of dissolving the BNYC and in a week’s time I am going to appoint 11 new members of the council,” he said.
The minister said according to the new BNYC structure, all youth organisations would be represented to ensure complete representation of all youth organisations, so that every young person could be covered.
He said representation would include youth in the church, a representative from Business Botswana (BOCCIM) youth entrepreneurs, careers online, non-governmental organisations and many others. Ends
