WASBO holds family fun day
04 Apr 2013
Women and Sports Botswana will on Saturday host the WASBO/BNSC chairperson family fun day, which is geared towards raising awareness on women participation in sport.
The event, which would be the first of its kind for WASBO, would be hosted annually to celebrate the international women’s month so as to encourage the girl child development in sports.
In an interview, WASBO national executive committee secretary general, Tebo Segaise said the aim of the event would be to engage all the women and girls in sports so as to address issues that affect them as they take part in sports.
That, she said, was a good platform to address these issues as parents, stakeholders and the public would form part of the gathering.
“We want parents to be hands on in the daily lives of their children and we are hoping that parents accompany their children to the event in order to achieve positive representation of women in sport,” she noted.
Segaise indicated that WASBO faced serious challenges when dealing with women in that they could not retain some of them due to family commitments.
The secretary general highlighted that the BNSC chairperson was expected to grace the event together with his executive committee.
She indicated that there would also be talks from health workers and motivational speakers.
To make the event lively and interesting, the secretary general said they had lined up activities to entertain attendants with traditional games and aerobics marathon. ENDS
