Volleyball weekend beckons

17 Jun 2015

Whilst their female counterparts are doing duty for national team, men’s volleyball teams will be out to seek redemption and solidification of better positions this weekend (June 19-20) in a Mascom volleyball extravaganza slated for Molepolole and Lobatse.

In Lobatse defending champions Kutlwano otherwise Big House will seek to close the gap between them and Police VI who are currently leading the 12 team league log.

Perched in the third spot after only six games, Big House will face eighth placed Mahalapye’s Mag Stimela who has played only five games and accumulated 11 points.

The Big House has lost their opening encounter against seventh placed BDF VI and has proved their commitment to defending the title last week when they crushed Prisons VI by 3-0 scoreline.

Though expected to be an easy sail for Isaac Samuel’s boys the Botswana Railways backed side may pull surprises as they have demonstrated in the past that they were no walkovers.

At the same venue Mag Stimela will take on Itekeng of Jwaneng at 5pm in an endeavour to collect as many points as they could to improve on their log standing.

However, Mag Stimela may find in Itekeng a formidable side buoyed by their last weekend’s 3-0 thrashing of both Mafolofolo and Prison’s VI in Molepolole.

Still on Saturday Mafolofolo are expected to dismantle Serowe struggling boys Tanian in Molepolole.

Tanian lie on the eleventh spot with eight accumulated points, a point ahead of last placed Desert Kings. After the Mafolofolo/Tanian game ninth placed Diphatsa will take on last week’s punching bag Prisons VI. Prisons VI were battered by Itekeng and Kutlwano losing by 3-0 margin in both games.

The warders, Prisons VI may seek redemption when they tackle the degenerating Francistowners  Diphatsa.

Thereafter BDF VI will flex their muscles as they attack Tanian full force.

BDF VI has accumulated 11 points after five games and may ambush the Serowe’s fragile boys to pump up their points  cart.

The day’s proceedings in Molepolole will be wrapped by an encounter between Diphatsa and Mofolofolo.

On Sunday, BDF VI will have another field day when they unleash their ammunition against struggling and bottom placed Desert Kings of Molepolole before Ramotswa’s Spiking Stars, second spot, honor their date with Kalavango who are on spot five with 14 accumulated points. ENDS
