Students assist family of twenty-three

Development Studies students at Gantsi Senior Secondary School have donated food and toiletry to a family of twenty-three.

The handover that took place at Bosele Ward was attended by VDC and the Councillor of Bosele Ward Mr Lefty Ngati.

The senior teacher of development studies at Gantsi senior Mr Mpho Kasoka said they made an effort to empower students to contribute towards the national vision of 2016. The project’s main aim was to help the underprivileged members of the community.

Dintle Kelebile, a development studies student thanked the village elders for their support in this endeavor. The overall money used for buying the food and toiletry, Kelebile was P 1200.00; and the money came from fund raising activities. She said even though it was a school project, it gave them an opportunity to help a needy family.

Bosele Ward Village Development Committee (VDC) members applauded and thanked the students for helping them in combating poverty and urged them to continue with the good work. Bosele Ward VDC Secretary Ms Mavis Molelebe gave the students merit for upholding the third pillar of Botswana’s national vision, ‘A Compassionate, Just and Caring Nation’.

The family was thankful for the items they received from the students and said that they will put them in good use. This act of kindness received applause from the councillor of Bosele ward, Mr Ngati. He also encouraged them to continue the act of charity even after they completed school.

He requested the family not to sell the food and toiletry they received from students. Ends
