BNPC chief commends Kgatleng leadership

Kgatleng District leadership has been commended for working together for betterment of the district.
Speaking during Kgatleng District public service day in Mochudi recently, the Executive Director of Botswana National Productivity Centre (BNPC) Mr Baeti Molake said the occasion provided for key machinery and in partnership with government in serving the nation diligently.
“Events of this nature also give organisations an opportunity to take stock as well as to recognize the contributions of the different departments and individuals to the achievements made,” he said.
Mr Molake said the theme “Innovating Public Service Delivery to implement the Post 2016 Development Agenda” is fitting and in consonant with the country’s Vision, particularly under the pillar of prosperous, productive and innovative nation.
He reminded public officers that they should be aware of the changing demands and expectations of the contemporary society. Mr Molake said “as the environment changes, it becomes necessary that as service providers we should also come up with new and better ways of serving the customer.”
He urged public officers to recognize technology and social media which has changed how people view the world and the role of government; therefore it is imperative that they innovate to meet the changing expectations of society.
He emphasized the importance of continual improvement of process and the quality of service and goods that are being offered by government.
Mr Molake said one of the main challenges in Botswana was project monitoring with many of them being delayed, hence overruns, which affects service delivery.
In order to encourage continuous improvement, Molake said several initiatives have been introduced to address the situation. He said despite challenges of declining resources and increased demand on service delivery, public officers should adopt innovative ways that would play a role in modernizing and ultimately transforming the public sector.
Outlining the objectives of the day, the District Improvement Committee Chairperson Ms Lorato Thebekgosi said the public service day provides a platform for public officers to meet and celebrate the services which they provide to public.
She said they share experiences and learn new skills from each other and that the district has been working together in order to improve service delivery.
Earlier, the Kgatleng District Council Chairperson Mr Mpho Morolong encouraged public officers to perform their duties and should do so diligently in accordance with the principles of the public service charter. ENDS
