With all accommodation facilities fully booked ahead of the Ghanzi Agricultural Show scheduled for July 6-12, Ghanzi Show Committee is putting measures in place to address the accommodation shortage.
Deputy chairperson of the committee, Mr Shane Kebadile, said they had set up a temporary camp site near the show grounds to address the problem. He said the camp site had full ablution facilities and was also secure. He further stated that a number of private campsites have been set up across Ghanzi.
As for future interventions, Mr Kebadile said some investors plan on building a 54 room hotel in the township.
The agricultural show is one of the biggest in the country, attracting local and international visitors.
Mr Kebadile said preparations were proceeding accordingly. He stated that the fair continued to attract an ever-growing number of people every year.
The show would see events such as the horse race, which Mr Kebadile hopes will be graced by participants from Namibia. The main attractions of this event are the livestock auction and exhibition. The two will take place during the week.
Mr Kebadile urged the residents to be welcoming to visitors during the show. “This is your show, the image of Ghanzi,” he said. Ends
